Founded in 2017, The IBB Foundation was born from a desire to give back and create opportunities for others. Inspired by her own journey from humble beginnings in Ghana to becoming an award-winning nurse and Queen’s Nurse in the United Kingdom, founder Irene Boham established the Foundation to support vulnerable and underrepresented individuals, champion inclusion, and empower people to achieve their full potential.
As part of her commitment to creating lasting impact, Irene chose to mark her 50th birthday by investing in something far more meaningful than a personal celebration: a vision that had been growing in her heart for many years—the establishment of The IBB Foundation. Rather than receiving personal gifts, she invited family, friends, colleagues, and supporters to contribute towards initiatives that provide opportunities, education, mentorship, and support for those facing disadvantage.
Having benefited from charitable support as a student herself, Irene understands the transformative power of opportunity. Today, that belief continues to drive the Foundation’s work in helping individuals overcome barriers, pursue their ambitions, and build brighter futures. The funds raised through her 50th birthday appeal helped lay the foundation for this important work and continue to inspire the Foundation’s mission of creating lasting change in the lives of others.
